SEAN AND SASA (malayan sun bears)

Do you ummm...., have any ummm....., FOOD!!!!
Sasa with her long toes used for climbing and getting insects out of wood.
On Wednesday or Tuesday where ever the heck you live...The teacher (mom) and I went to Wellington Zoo to see the Malayan sun bears, Sean and Sasa. The bears at Wellington Zoo are the only sun bears in Australasia to have breed SUCCESSFULLY.
I know there's some goodies in there somewhere!

Sasa is Sean's daughter, the mama bear died a few years ago. Sean was rescued from a restaurant in Cambodia where he was chained up outside of the restaurant to attract customers and to harvest bile from him for medicines. But because these bears are INCREDIBLY ferocious and are solitary animals they had to DRUG him to make calm down...

Going for a hike in the bush

so this group called SAVE THE BEARS (very original mhm mhm) saved him from this restaurant and he ended up in Wellington Zoo where he's happy to be around a nice enclosure and get jam covered sticks full of bugs and snooze in the sun.

Here's the link to their website so you can see what they do http://www.freethebears.org.au/.

This week I also built a diorama for the panda bear COMPLETE with fake bamboo.
