It's the start of Term 3 2012! Are you ready for the Olympics? I am. I want to see the shot put (GO VALERIE ADAMS!!!) and the football (GO OLY WHITES AND FOOTBALL FERNS!!!!) and the BMX (GO SARAH WALKER!!!) and archery (GO WHOEVER!!!) and Modern Pentathlon. Did you know the modern Pentathlon is a combination of : x-country, fencing, horse jumping,Freestyle swim and pistol shooting. It's like they are preparing for a zombie apocalypse. So I will probably be in front of the TV for lots of hours! I think the mascots are a bit weird...
In the holidays I played in a Futsal Tournament. We played against GIANTS!
This term we are all about PHYSICS and ARCHERY and getting the AIRSHIP finished.

Just think about blueberries. I have some physics projects. One is my NEOCUBE, which I am still trying to master. Moana figured it out-GRRRR. Check out the neocube on youtube. Also Mom got this mildly strange Penguin thing and I thought she was crazy. But actually there is alot of physics in it, and she is still crazy. LOL.
I decided to use the natural approach to dyeing the dirigible and soaked them in mud to get the right colour. It looks awesome. Today we are getting some supplies for rigging.
Archery is my new hobby. I have set up a target in the garden with a straw bale and balloons to pop. Haven't hit any cats or birds yet. I guess they got the news to stay away! Bam has to stay in the cave when I practice.
It's cool to have my best bud home from his round the world trip. Bas and I spent some of the holidays making bases and doing archery. Check out this Russian woman who does Speed Archery- We want her on our team when the zombies arrive! Okay I am a bit obsessed with zombies.

Term three looks like it will be a lot of fun. I liked the speed archery video. Archery is fun and a fine example of physics, skill and visualization. Did you notice her eyes on the target and the smooth "practiced" flow she used to reload her bow? It’s like she could see where the arrow was going to hit before it left her bow. If you look closely she loses focus "her head shifts" a few times and misses the target.

The game on this site uses measurements and calculations to determine the flight of the arrow.
You can measure your own bow and arrows to help improve your archery skill. Although archery is a fine skill of a human working with a tool, the science of physics can help you to know how far to pull the bow string and what angle to hold the bow. "WATCH OUT ZOMBIES"
P.S. If you’re not sure about the word Visualization; look it up. Visualization is one of the things that help to athletes make it to the Olympics. It can be used for any skill. You are using this technique when you see the picture of your airship in your mind. Your Dad uses it when he runs and can see himself making it up the next big hill. It's like a superpower for those who learn how to use it well.

Thanks so much for your comments its really cool to get feedback on my blog i use visualisation when i think about kicking goals in soccer. The olympics is going to be cool. I want to watch the archery and lots of things but mostly we will be getting up in the middle of the night to watch our football teams. The Football Ferns (womens team) play the opening game against great britain on Thursday morning at 3 AM!!!! so the school cave starts in the middle of the night and then the Oly Whites ( the mens team are the next day at 6:30 am.
