Had to start a day late because there was a massive weather bomb that hit Wellington that stopped all the ferries going across the cook straight so I stayed a night at my friends house that's kinda good I guess onto the next day we had clear sailing but we had 6 HOUR DELAYS!!!!! on the ferry because we weren't the only ones who couldn't sail but we got there in the end.

My highlights of the trip were
: making a knife
: swimming with seals
: panning for gold (which i got some)

it was cool seeing the animals such as Weka which poke around the house and stuff the seals that was awesome and ONE VERY ANNOYING ONE OR MILLION IS THE SAND FLIES!!!!

The geology was great. there were mountains that were extremely high. Once when we drove over a hill we were actually driving in the CLOUDS!! and there were glaciers which we visited. That was cool, it was really cold,you could feel the cold air coming off the water. It was great looking on the beaches because you could find so many different rocks. I came back with a whole bag full.  I'd like to save up for a rock tumbler to polish some.

If you want to read a book about the South Island (or Te Wai Pounamu) I would reccomend these: Frog Whistle mine and Shadows in the Ice by Des Hunt or Beak of the Moon by Philip Temple which I am reading now. It's about kea and is sort of like Watership Down.

It's good to be back. Bam missed me lots and she is glad the Cave is open and the pack is back.
