Baking.First of all lets start with baking. Our first recipe was this thing called kuchen (coo-ken) its basically like this apple crumble thing but it's just the crumble and no apple but it has cake mixture and plums in it !YUM YUM! It is really easy to make, the most fun part about it was cutting up the plums because it was like a murder job you had like pull the pip out and then cut up the evidence and then put in a box for the cake.
Next on the list is chocolate lava cake when the chocolate in the middle is supposed to ooze out the sides when you cut it open but when we made them they cooked all the way through though so that kinda sucked. But it still tasted nice. oh and because it was valentines day mum and i put icing sugar and it made a heart shape.
We also did some research at Te Papa (named after the great PAPA in Canada to be precise in P-E-I) so we did some research and they have this ride thing right and its like this submarine and it does a lot of bumps and shakes you around and that jazz but the cool thing was you got to see these things called black smokers under the water and the funny thing is that Lake Taupo is actually a volcanic crater. .Our next fossil hunting trip is to Castlepoint were the fossils are younger than the ones at Hurupi Stream and the cool thing is DAD is coming woooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!. Here are some pictures from this week. Sorry to say but we don't have any pictures of the cooking because it was eaten too quickly.
chicken curry is the BEST!!! Too bad your volcano dried up - couldn't take the heat, eh? Also glad to hear that the fossil hunting is going well and that you are taking lots of rest breaks and foot soaking breaks. I bet you guys take wonderful packed lunches. Too much snow here for fossil hunting but there are lots in the Gatineau hills. Have a fun week!
ReplyDeletelove your kuchen and your cookin'. I think you will be a great cook and your family will gobble up your dishes. The giant fossil at Te Papa was so cool, and I was able to understand so much more when looking at the rock displays and the Earth's Forces stuff. The submarine ride was cool, but I'm sticking to simulators, dark trenches under the ocean is a big scary. It's going to be great to have Dad along on a field trip and the weather looks perfect for fossil digging. See ya in the Cave, Mom.
ReplyDeleteAwesome week Theo. Can't wait to see some posted pics of our geological survey and hill climb at Castlepoint.
