Bear Night- Huge Success

We celebrated our zoology study of BEARS with Bear Night! We had a exciting menu inspired by bears of the world!  Here is the menu:

Bear Night Menu
ENTREE
Smoked salmon and naan bread
(Grizzly Bears and Asian Black Bears)
MAIN
Steak and bamboo shoot stir fry
(Polar Bear and Panda Bear)
BEVERAGE
Blueberry smoothies
(Black Bears)
DESSERT
Honey- bee-Gateau
(Sun Bears)
z z z z z z

The highlights of the menu were finding out I love bamboo shoots and the gateau was fantastic even though it looked like it was a cake sat on by a bear! Here is the link for the recipe for the cake:Nigella's Honey Bee Cake YUMYUMYUM
My Powerpoint presentation called BEARS: WHY THEY NEED OUR PROTECTION was great and the audience (Mum and Dad) clapped. I showed Dad my Science Journal and we talked about the dioramas and ideas for protecting bears. I think Greenpeace is doing a good job with their Save the Arctic protests and I think the polar bear ad is really powerful. Here is the link for this: Save the Arctic

If you make the cake let me know how it turns out.

This term is almost over. I am loving working at the library and I am going to trial for the Wairarapa Rep Team (soccer). So hopefully I get to play football ALLLLLL summer too! My parents will love driving me everywhere I'm sure LOL.

  1. The-O: Bear night was fantastic, I learned a lot about bears. Like that Paddington is really in fact a Peruvian Bear!! And that there is such a thing as a "Spectacled Bear" - who knew! I think the Spectacled Bear was my favourite although I too liked the Sloth as well. I love that you are thinking in a deep way about the inter-relationship between habitat destruction, human activity, and the decline in biodiversity. Yes, Bears most definitely need our protection. And that means sorting out some injustices and shifting the balance of power back to nature. I am so very proud of you Theo. Love from Dad.

  2. Seems like a good night was had by all.
The steak and Bamboo stir fry must have been very tasty. Good luck with the football trials! Congratulations on reaching 3000 hits.
