Division and gardening

So NZ is set to go rugby crazy tonight when the All Blacks play Tonga in the opening game of the Rugby World Cup. Personally, I am cheering for Tonga because they have a good attitude, have lots of fun and I wish I was at their party! I don't hold out much hope for Canada but I'll cheer for them anyway.

I have been learning about division this week. It started off really really really happy (NOT!) and I thought I would NEVER get this but... I got there in the end and now I can say I GET IT!!! I want to say if you're having trouble you need to think about groups and how it's connected to multiplication or "timesing". That helped me and doing tortilla chip triangles (especially Thai Sweet Chili) where you have the 3 numbers altogether like 12-4-3 in the corners of the tortilla chip! Ask my mom.

SPRING!!!! I think it's almost spring so we have started work on the veggie garden. I weeded it and dug up the soil and now I have to go find some horse poop, lovely stuff, and some compost where Bam buries her bones. I want to plant some blackberries and peas and beans and carrots and strawberries. I also want to get some yellow flowers. That reminds me it's Daffodil Day on Sunday and Bas is going to be here!

I taught my mom about medieval castles and architecture  this week when we watched a movie with battle scenes. A murder hole is this big tunnel in the wall of the castle where they drop a catapult ball down the chute and it comes WHAM! flying out a hole at the bottom and WHAM! the poor guys trying to invade get WHAM! knocked over. Also I taught her about different pieces of armour. Which reminds me I had a blast at the medieval fair last year. I want to go again, I might get dressed up this year!

So that was this week. Toodles and Go Tonga! THE O

  1. Hi The O, it was kind of a messy week last week but I was stoked at your work on that division stuff and how the lightbulb went on over top of your head on Thursday... just like a cartoon come to life! Also I think you and Bas could get some awesome costumes together for the Medieval Day and I was really impressed with how much you knew about castles and stuff when we were watching the movie about Joan of Arc- she was a bit crazy!!! I think we should find some old tires and make strawberry planters out of them, operation JAM but how to keep Bam from picking the berries?!?! Cheers, Mom.
