Back in the Cave
Hi everybody I am pumped because i am going to Canada in 19 days! Me my mum and my sister are going to see family and travel around. We are going to Ottawa, PEI, Quebec, New Brunswick and Vancouver. So I am busy learning about Canada. Did you know the national sport is LACROSSE even though ice hockey is the most popular. But i think lacrosse looks like a very fun game (but maybe painful at the same time!) Here is a link if you want to check out lacrosse in action.

My other big project is discovering my whakapapa (genealogy). I am finding out about my mum's family this term and my dad's next term. One coincidence I discovered was the doctor on Seamus's (my grown up brother) birth certificate was a N. Braithwaite in Canada even though it was nine years before my mum met my dad in NZ!!! Also my birthdate is a palindrome (the same forwards and backwards). I was born at 11:21 on 21 Nov 2000 which is 11-21-00-11:21. So any fortune tellers out there, tell me what this means!
I am working on time: timelines, telling time, time travel and time units. Did you know that an EPOCH is 1 million years, and an EON is 1 billion years and there is no word I can find for 1 trillion years because the universe is not even that old yet!
My football season starts this Saturday. It will be a great year for the Greytown Thunderbirds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Catch ya later peoples.

It's great to be back in the cave! I am loving sharing the family treasures and creating timelines for everything. But I am also pumped about the trip to the Great White North (although I hope it is the Great Green North when we are there!) Cheers, Mom
ReplyDeleteHi Theo - good to have you back. Now I have a good distraction before heading to my work cave. Bella the newest member of your whakapapa is getting excited to meet you. I think this semester I may try to complete a project on when and why time is fun. It always seems to me to be something that gives me pressure and stress vs. something to which I can look forward. Perhaps this involves iced tea on a deck and being with family. Will look into it further and keep you posted. Take care and icky Auntie kisses to you!
ReplyDeleteYou have friends on PEI, as well as family, who can hardly wait for your visit!
ReplyDeleteSo answer this for me, Mr. Time Man - why does time move so slowly when we're waiting for something great to happen but it seems to go faster when you're busy?
