Week in review: Robots and Freedom

hello everybody! Click on the play button on my avatar on the sidebar to meet my voki.
This week we built a robot arm. Celine sent me the kit in the mail. Thanks for that! Now we are engineers! The tricky parts were repairing it because we didn't get the gears right in one part. The wiring part was fun but I still can't get the light working. The best part of this was putting the gear boxes together and I was amazed that we could read these complicated plans. I made a slideshow of the photos I took when we were building it.

My big idea this week is I am thinking about freedom. I think free schools are cool. So I spent a day in my jammies. I was reading and watching video about the protests in Cairo. It started out okay with people talking about wanting their freedom, but now things are getting to be like a riot. Two people were killed. A million people took the streets. I think I am pretty free, but I don't think free people have bedtimes.

Thanks for following my blog. I really like reading your comments. Catch ya later peoples. Theo

  1. i think you make some interesting points about being free. Sometimes I wonder if being free is more about being able to think about WHATEVER you want...other people can tell you what to do and where you have to go...and they can sometimes force you to do what they want (including bedtime)...but no matter how many times they tell you to think certain things, you are always free to think what YOU want. To me, that is being free.

  2. You know Theo, I always thought that to be free all you had to do was be a grown-up. But guess what - as a grown-up there are even MORE rules. The big difference,I think, is that now I think that some rules are important. We all want things to be fair and that means we have to know more about what we all need. In Cairo, the people are saying very loudly that they are not getting what they need.
